Academic Publishing

An introduction to the adaptations in the academic publishing model, including open access publishing and archiving, authors rights, and tools and strategies for measuring the impact of research.

Supporting open access does not affect how, where, and why you publish. Archiving your articles in an institutional repository allows your work to be discoverable and accessible to a wider audience. Florida State University Libraries has developed such a repository, called DigiNole.

DigiNole is a service of the Libraries, dedicated to preserving and providing open access to the scholarly research and creative work of the University. FSU Libraries staff works with university departments, research centers, and individual faculty to upload content to the repository. Members of the university community are invited to contribute their completed scholarship for long-term preservation and worldwide electronic accessibility. Archiving content in DigiNole is free and allowed by many publishers.

DigiNole was designed to accommodate all forms of publications and research, including (but not limited to) journal articles, books and book chapters, research reports, data sets, and presentations.

FSU Libraries provide this service free of charge, and we are actively looking for ways to improve it based on the changing publishing needs of our users. We value your feedback, so contact us with your feedback and recommendations.

You can also contact the Scholarly Communications Librarian Devin Soper if you'd like to explore open access archiving in the institutional repository.

DigiNole is a digital publishing platform for scholarly and creative works by FSU faculty, students, and staff.

DigiNole was designed to accommodate different kinds of scholarship. Some examples of acceptable content includes:

  • article manuscripts
  • working papers
  • data sets
  • conference posters
  • presentation slides
  • teaching materials
  • theses & dissertations
  • video recordings
  • and more!
