Research guide for finding primary and secondary sources.

Library Research Goals

This guide is designed to help you:

  • Locate and access at least two to three secondary sources (scholarly books or articles)
  • Locate and access at least one primary source (first-hand account or evidence)

You can follow the pages of this guide in order, or jump to the page that best meets your needs right now.

Research in the Time of COVID-19

While the Strozier and Dirac Library buildings are closed to protect the health of our staff and patrons, you can still access the majority of library resources and research help.

  • All electronic resources--journals, ebooks, databases--continue to be available as before. In fact, some publishers have increased the number of simultaneous users on previously limited items.
  • Librarians are available to assist researchers via email or Zoom meetings.
  • While we cannot provide circulation services or access to physical materials due to the ability of the coronavirus to persist on hard surfaces for 24-78 hours, we are working on creating enhanced scanning services as a substitute. Stay tuned for more information on this. In the meantime:
    • Faculty, staff, graduate assistants and teaching assistants may request scans of physical materials using the Library Express Delivers (LEDS) form . Please be very specific on how much (page numbers) you need scanned. This will be a staff and labor intensive process, so we appreciate your patience and judicious use of this service.
    • Students may request scans by submitting via the Book Search Form
