BrowZine

A guide to learn more about BrowZine and how to access it.

How to Use BrowZine

1. Search for journals by journal title, subject, or ISSN. After entering your term in the search box, a list of results will populate. Icons to the right of each result indicate what type of resource it is, with a red icon being for a subject category, and the blue icon being for a specific journal.

2. Clicking on the subject result will provide all the titles indexed under that subject. You can sort these titles alphabetically by title, or by journal rank.

3. Selecting on a journal will take you to the journal's BrowZine homepage. Journal pages will show the most recent articles available by default. If you are looking for a specific article, you can navigate to find the issue it is in, or the year it was published. On this page, you can also click "Add to My Bookshelf" to save this journal for easy future access (be sure to sign up for a BrowZine account using your FSU credentials).

4. Clicking on an article will take you to the publisher's website. Please note that you can only access full text of articles if FSU Libraries has a subscription to the journal.

1. After downloading the BrowZine mobile app, search for Florida State University Libraries in the search bar. Click on the library name and enter your FSU credentials to sign in.

2. After signing in, you will see the BrowZine Library page. Near the bottom of the screen, you can see a few other tabs.

Here's what you can do in each tab:

  • My Bookshelf - My Bookshelf is an area within BrowZine where you can organize your favorite journals. Choose the "Add to My Bookshelf" button when viewing a journal to add that title to My Bookshelf.  You can then organize your bookshelf by moving the journals between multiple "shelves" and "bookcases" as well as renaming the shelves and bookcases to whatever you'd like. Learn more about the My Bookshelf feature here
  • BrowZine Library - BrowZine Library tab is where you can explore different subject journals, search for specific subject journals, and access articles.
  • My articles - My Articles is a feature which allows you to save articles you find on the Web, iOS or Android versions of BrowZine into one or many collections within My Articles. These collections then sync across all of the devices you are using via your BrowZine Account. Learn more about how to use this tab here
  • Institution Info - This tab will take you to the FSU Libraries homepage.
  • Settings - Access your account settings, change your institution, learn more about citation services.

3. To start searching for articles, navigate to the BrowZine Library tab and enter a search term. Similar to the Web version, each result will have a corresponding icon, with a red icon indicating a subject topic, and a blue icon indicating a journal. You can also filter results by clicking on the "Subjects" and "Journals" just under the search bar.

4. Clicking on a subject topic will pull up a display of various journals related to that subject area. You can filter these journals alphabetically or by journal rank by clicking on the arrow icon near the top of the screen. Clicking on a specific journal will take you to the journal's BrowZine Library page where you can browse articles in that journal, explore past issues, or related journals.

5. Clicking on a specific article will take you to the the full text or PDF of the article. Click the icon in the top right corner of the screen to save your article to My Articles, Zotero, and more.

6. If you would like to save a journal to your bookshelf, you can click the bookshelf icon near the top right of the screen on the journal page. Be sure to sign up for a BrowZine account using your FSU credentials to access the Bookshelf feature. You can create an account by navigating to the "My Bookshelf" tab near the bottom left of the screen.
