How Do I Find Books on...?

World Music?

The FSU library catalog  will help you find books on World Music owned by FSU and other university and college libraries in Florida..  Here are some searches to get you started:

Keyword vs. Subject searches

Think of the Keyword searches as your "goin' fishin'" searches.  You may or may not catch the fish you want, but it'll get your feet wet and familiarize you with what comes up with your word choices.  For example

  • Africa music retrieves items ranging from the film Out of Africa to books on music in Africa.  (psst, you can look for specific countries in Africa too!)

 But a subject search for

can help you have a more specific search result.  Notice the subdivisions (time periods such as 20th century or descriptors such as History and Criticism) -- they can help you focus your search even more.
