JMdictDB is an online Japanese dictionary database based on the electronic dictionaries compiled and collected by Australian academic Jim Breen. The main Japanese–English dictionary files (EDICT) contain around 170,000 entries, and the ENAMDICT dictionary contains over 720,000 Japanese surnames, first names, place names and product names. JMdictDB also contains several specialized dictionaries covering topics such as life sciences, law, computing, engineering, etc.
An unconventional advanced online dictionary. The database is a collection of translations from various sources. It's purpose is for understanding grammar patterns, collocations, and word usage, as well as grasping the more nuanced meanings of Japanese vocabulary.
