Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FE)

Fundamentals of Engineering Test Overview

The FE exam includes 110-questions. The exam appointment time is 6 hours long and includes

  • Nondisclosure agreement (2 minutes)

  • Tutorial (8 minutes)

  • Exam (5 hours and 20 minutes)

  • Scheduled break (25 minutes)

The Florida engineering board does not require examinees to submit an application prior to registering with NCEES and scheduling an FE exam. Examinees may register for their exams by creating a MyNCEES account. Examinees must also submit a 175$ exam fee.

Examinees will be provided one attempt per testing window and no more than three attempts in a 12-month period.

Needed Test Materials

  • NCEES will provide you with an online FE Reference Handbook at the exam site. 

  • You must present one of the following photo IDs upon arrival at the test center: 

    •  ID issued by a government entity in the country in which you are testing 

    •  International travel passport in roman characters from your country of citizenship 

    •  U.S. military 

  • A printed copy of your appointment confirmation letter

  • one NCEES-approved calculator

  • NO food or Beverages
