Exam results are normally available within 10 business days
Results are reported as pass or fail. If you fail the examination, you will receive a diagnostic report showing your performance for each of the major topics covered on the exam.
NCEES does not publish the passing score because it varies slightly based on difficulty. NCEES scores each exam with no predetermined percentage of examinees that should pass or fail. All exams are scored the same way. First-time takers and repeat takers are graded to the same standard.
Most questions on exams are in traditional multiple-choice format. However, exams also use common alternative item types such as
• Multiple correct options—allows multiple choices to be correct
Point and click—requires examinees to click on part of a graphic to answer
Drag and drop—requires examinees to click on and drag items to match, sort, rank, or label
Fill in the blank—provides a space for examinees to enter a response to the question All questions, including alternative item types, are scored as either correct or incorrect.
No partial credit is given
NCEES offers practice exams. These practice exams contain questions that have been used on past exams and questions written just for study materials to give you extra practice.
The NCEES practice exams now come in paperback print copies. Online practice exams are no longer available. If you have already purchased an online practice exam, you will have access to the exam until the exam is completed or until your purchased time expires.
The cost of these practice material vary from test to test, but the normal starting price is $19.95.
