1. Go to lib.fsu.edu
2. Click on the Search Options Tab, then select the Databases Search
3. Search for a database by subject: Social Policy.
4. Select the database: One database called Social Sciences Full Text provided by EBSCO is an option.
5. Perform a search: The search uses the truncated keyword homeless* (yields homeless plus homelessness OR unhoused) AND (policy OR policies). Note that AND narrows your search, and OR broadens your search. (Note: truncation does not always help; for example, if we truncate polic*, we end up with titles on policing.) Tip: Use the thesaurus to explore keywords or subject headings recommended by the database.
You can refine your search by date range and source (book or journal) on the left-hand side of the search box.
6. Refine Results: Currently, results would require a researcher to sift through 1300+ results. Refine results on the left-hand side of the screen since relevant resources appear at the top of the search, but a more manageable number is desired. Refining the search to peer-reviewed resources published in the last 10 years yields a more manageable number of articles to sift through (606).
7. Select a result to view the Full Text. Click the PDF Full-Text Button, or the Find it @ FSU button if a full-text option is unavailable. Full-Text will take you to the article where you can email, create a citation, export to citation management, etc.
