Frequently Used Resources

How can you search across all of the streaming resources we offer and find that recording or video? Use OneSearch/Summon!

1. Go to http://music.fsu.edu/library
2. Find the OneSearch/Summon box on the page
   • 
3. Type in your search words. LESS IS MORE!
   • For this example, let's search for Beethoven's String Quartet op. 130,
4. Here's what my search looks like:

  • Why just beethoven string quartet 130 ??
    • opus is a common word, so it can be omitted
    • Beethoven is not a common name; Ludwig is not needed to narrow the search
    • While smaller numbers (1-8) will show up frequently, higher numbers (e.g., 130) do not
    • Economizing the search words can result in a more accurate search!

Now what? That's a LOT of items (over 25,000!).

See the options on the left hand side? We call them facets. Choose "MORE" under CONTENT TYPE to find audio recordings.

  Streaming Audio is likely the best choice for the search so far, but some of our streaming resources also appear under Audio Recording. Try streaming audio first to see if you like those results!

After choosing your format, scroll to the top of the page and choose "Apply" to apply your choice to the original search.
