Uniformology is the study of military uniforms across historical periods. Due to the centrality of war to the Napoleonic Period, Uniformology is a well-documented and integral part of studying the history of Napoleon.
Proctor Jones was a publisher and author of books on French and Napoleonic history. He founded the Proctor Jones Publishing company that became known for its focus on this field. Included in his collection are notes, research, and manuscript drafts that document the process and development of his publications.
The Proctor Jones materials include a number of artistic posters, prints, and plates that depict military uniforms across the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Period into the Second French Empire. Of note are multiple illustrations of battlefields, portraits of Napoleon Bonaparte and officers, and foreign mercenary divisions such as Hussars and Swiss-Grenadiers.
