This Research Guide was made to help researchers understand how to use GIS data as well as house resources to support research.

ArcGIS Pro Login Procedures Video

If this is your first time using ArcGIS tools at FSU

Before you can login to ArcGIS pro you will need to login to ArcGIS Online to create/verify your FSU account.

  1. Go to https://cosspp.maps.arcgis.com and click “Sign In” located in the upper right hand corner
  2. In the new screen click the blue Florida State University button

  1. A login page that looks like when you login to myFSU should appear. Use your myfsu account to login. You will need to use Duo to authenticate.

Below is a listing of software so that you can begin your GIS research!

  • QGIS: User-friendly Open Source Geographic Information System (GIS) licensed under the GNU General Public License. QGIS is an official project of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo). It runs on Linux, Unix, Mac OSX, Windows, and Android and supports numerous vector, raster, and database formats and functionalities.
  • Google Earth Engine: Earth Engine combines a multi-petabyte catalog of satellite imagery and geospatial datasets with planetary-scale capabilities.
  • Google Earth: Google Earth is a computer program, formerly known as Keyhole EarthViewer, that renders a 3D representation of Earth based primarily on satellite imagery.
