Suggestions

1. Pick a large US, Public company (one traded on an exchange) (look at the Forbes 2000 list)

2. Assess the company's current international product line up, look at the company's most recent 10K to see what percentage of their business is international, take note of countries they are in and methods they are using to distribute their products.

3. Read the company's 10K closely

  • read Management Discussion about growth plans
  • read the Risk Factors detailed in the 10K, there are often sections titled: "Quantitative and Qualitative Disclosures About Market Risk"
  • read the "Properties" section to get an idea of where the company has offices, warehouses, distribution points, etc.
  • Check the "Exhibits" scetion in the back for anything interesting, often contains contracts with other companies or alliances documents or lists of subsidiaries allowing you to see where they are located around the world
