Civil Rights Movement

A guide for locating primary sources and research materials about the U.S. civil rights movement.

Finding Books

To find books in Strozier that deal with the Civil Rights Movement or related topics, you can search in our online catalog.

While conducting a basic keyword search is a good way to start looking, it is also helpful to click on a book's title to view its full record, like the one listed below:

"Subjects, general" section

An item record like this includes a great deal of information about a book, including its author, title, publisher, publishing date, and length. Additionally, an item record typically contains one or several subjects. These are helpful in that they tell you the main focus of a book, but each subject is also a link which can be clicked to list every other book in our collection with the same subject. In this way, you can easily find several books on the same topic without having to sift through pages of results that are not as relevant.
