Creating a LibGuide in LibGuides 2.0

Basic How-to for creating an effective LibGuide

Embed a tutorial or other item directly into the page

Embed a tutorial or other item directly into the page:

This allows you to put active tutorials or other resources right into the page instead of relying on links.

Find the URL of the site you're embedding, and paste it in. The width in the code below is defaulted to show as wide as possible (100%); you can also define a pixel width instead of a relative width. The height is an example of pixel-size rather than relative size; you can change the height to be whatever you want.

<iframe src="PASTE THE URL YOU WANT TO EMBED HERE" height="300" width="100%"><br /> <p>Your browser does not support iframes.</p><br /></iframe>

Add a media / widget item to embed content from other sites

1.Find the embed code for the content you want to add. This varies from site to site, but it will usually include an <embed>, <iframe>, or <script> tag.

2.Select Add/Reorder.

3.Select Media/Widget.

4.Paste in the embed code.

Add documents that need to stay separate from the web page

We have some documents and worksheets that need to stay separate from the guide content. Edit and prepare these files before adding them to LibGuides.

1.Rewrite the content as needed to stay consistent with LibGuides content guidelines.

2.Prepare a final file and name it clearly. The name should be short, meaningful, and should not use spaces or special characters. If you need to separate words, choose hyphens - not underscores.

Good: evaluating-sources.pdf

Bad: CheckingSources,citing_final 11 23.pdf

3.Upload to LibGuides by choosing Document / File from the Add / Reorder menu and browsing to the file you want.
