Strozier Library uses the ScanPro 1000 for viewing micromaterials. See the instructions below.
1. Getting Started
Just flip the power switch on the back of the ScanPro to turn it on.
2. Loading the Film
- Pull the front film tray all the way out—that lifts the top glass plate.
- Pop the film reel onto the left spindle. Make sure it's going clockwise so the film comes off the top and points to the right.
- Thread it:
- Wrap the film counter-clockwise around the lower white spindle on the left.
- Bring it up and slide it between those two glass trays.
- Gently pull the film toward the white spindle on the right.
- Wrap it counter-clockwise under the lower white spindle on the right.
- Feed the end of the film into the slot on the upper reel on the right.
- To keep things snug, slowly turn the right reel clockwise a couple of times.
- Slide the film tray back home. You can actually move this tray later while you're viewing to center your image.
3. Starting the Software
- Double-click that PowerScan 1000 icon on the computer desktop, and you're ready to start viewing.
If you intend to save images of what you find, be sure to bring a flash drive or CD-R with you to the library to save your files. Or, you can email the images to yourself.
