Using Micromaterials in Strozier Library

This is a guide for locating, viewing, and scanning various micromaterials located in the Scholars Commons on the Ground Floor of Strozier Library.

When to Search for Micromaterials...

Focusing a search on what is available in our micromaterial collection is helpful when searching for "primary sources," especially newspapers, periodicals, documents, diaries, and manuscripts.

While many of our micromaterials are older, "historical" sources, we still receive current newspapers, documents, and other items on microform all of the time, so don't assume that just because something is a micromaterial, it is automatically out of date.

Advanced Searching

To locate micromaterials in the online catalog, you will want to start by conducting an advanced search.

On the search page, enter any relevant keywords in the boxes under the heading "Option 1: Search for words." Then, under the heading labeled "Limit your search further by," select "microform" from the "Format" menu and click "Search."

The results which are then displayed will be limited to items which appear on microform. Click the "Different Formats" tab at the top of this page to learn about how to tell which format is which when looking over the results of your search.
