Library and Technology Jobs: Professional Networking

This LibGuide is designed to help School of Information students and grads with their job search.

Professional Networking

Never underestimate the value of getting out there and meeting people to make yourself known to potential employers. Research has shown that 60% to 75% of job openings are filled by networking (Beatty, 2002). Whether face-to-face or online, networking is a valuable skill that can help in your job hunt.

Informational interviews are a great way to learn expand your professional network, learn about different aspects of librarianship, and potentially learn about job openings.
