  • Gimp
    • Image manipulation software.
    • Windows only.
  • BrowZine
    • Want to browse new issues of professional journals? This app allows you to create a virtual bookshelf of journals through the FSU Libraries subscriptions.
  • Duet
    • Own an iPad (or iPhone) and a MacBook? You can turn your iPad or iPhone into a second screen for your MacBook using Duet and your lightning connector. Cost: $15 (for the iOS app; free for the Mac download).
  • Aeon Timeline
    • If you are creating serious timelines for your thesis/dissertation, take a look at Aeon Timeline software.
    • Windows or Mac and $40 (trial versions available).
  • Qualtrics
    • Need to conduct a survey as part of your research?
    • FSU subscribes to Qualtrics – a powerful online survey tool.
    • Lots of modeling options available and easy to modify questions and layout.
  • iAnnotate PDF
    • iOS and Android, $10.
    • Markup and share PDFs, Word and PowerPoint files
    • Annotation, not editing software. Great way to make notes/suggestions on article, shared documents.
    • Connects with various cloud storage options.
  • Audacity
    • Just in case you haven’t used it yet. Free and relatively easy audio editing tool
    • Download the LAME encoder to export your audio files to MP3s.
  • VLC media player
    • Again, just in case you’ve not used this. Cross-platform multimedia player.
