Finding Sound Recordings

You can locate call numbers for our physical recordings in the FSU Library Catalog.  For items located in the Allen Music Library, bring the call number information to the deskand our staff are happy to pull the item for you and check it out to you.

Tips for finding recordings in the FSU Library Catalog:

  • Use the format drop-down to choose CD (assuming you want only compact discs).
  • Remember the super-searcher tips from the Printed Music (scores) page?  Those same principles apply when searching for recordings.
  • Some fun examples:

Just because it's not listed in the catalog...

Just because a recording isn't listed in the FSU catalog doesn't mean we don't have access to it.

Some of the recordings available through resources such as Naxos are listed in the library catalog, but not all.

Your best success at finding those is to either search each of those resources separately or try using Summon (the alternative search on the Allen Music Library's web site).

After entering a search for "elly ameling," this is the result:

Choose the box beside "Music Recording," and the result should be recordings available through the subscription streaming services (Naxos, Classical Music Library, etc.).

Choose the title of the recording, and you'll be taken to the appropriate resource. If you are off campus, you may have to enter your FSU e-mail and password.
