General Information on Lending Policies

Last Reviewed: 10/9/25

FSU Libraries accepts requests via ILLiad/OCLC, Alma, and ISO. Our OCLC symbol is FDA. For institutions who do not use a resource sharing platform or cannot send a request using the options above, please register an ILLiad account for your library using the following webform: ILLiad Account Registration Form.

To create a peer-to-peer connection in Alma or for ISO processing in another system, please reach out to the FSU Resource Sharing Manager. You can find their contact information at the following link: Search the Library Employee Directory

Charges

We lend to our reciprocal partners at no cost.

Non-reciprocal partners will be charged as follows:

Loans: 15 IFM

Copies: 15 IFM

Renewals

If your patron requires a renewal, please email us before submitting the renewal request in the system. While renewals are generally not permitted due to our long loan periods, exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Items that are already overdue or have already received one approved renewal cannot be renewed.

Submitting Requests to the Music Library (OCLC FMZ)

Requests for materials shelved at the Allen Music Library (AML) should be submitted to FDA.

  • Most items in the General Collection, including scores, circulate through ILL.
  • Copy requests may be submitted for book chapters and articles.

For additional information on their circulation policies, please contact AML staff and copy the FSU Lending team at amlcirc@fsu.edu and lib-lending@fsu.edu.

Lost/Damaged Item Policies

Overdue and Summary Bill Letters are automatically generated and delivered to Borrowing institutions using our Alma ILS. FDA receives a monthly Alma report of items currently on loan and in Lost status. Materials updated to Lost status in Alma are approximately 60 days overdue. FDA will send a separate email requesting an update on outstanding loans. After a week without communication or updates, FDA staff will proceed with invoicing.

Acceptable Forms of Payment

FDA can accept the following forms of payment:

  1. Check
  2. IFM

For international borrowers using IFLA vouchers, please contact the Lending team at lib-lending@fsu.edu.

We cannot accept replacement copies or credit card payments.

International Borrowing Request Information

FDA lends materials to international partners on a case-by-case basis.

Whenever possible, we prefer to supply digital copies rather than ship physical items. We are happy to provide a Table of Contents to assist patrons in selecting specific pages for scan requests.

For questions about international charges, please contact the Lending team at lib-lending@fsu.edu.
