What is UBorrow+?

What is UBorrow+?

UBorrow+ allows you to request books from other Florida universities and colleges first, and then automatically checks participating lending partners from the United States.

UBorrow+ is the same UBorrow you know and love; plus more chances to fill your request quickly.

You can request items directly from the FSU OneSearch (the library catalog) if they're not available at FSU Libraries. To see how, view our FAQ: What is UBorrow+?

The books usually arrive more quickly than ILL requests, and come with a standard 90-day loan period and one renewal if filled by our original partners. Our expanded network has a longer loan period (16 weeks) and no renewals.

When should you use UBorrow+?

You should use UBorrow+ to request items when the following situation occurs:

  1. We do not currently have the item at all through FSU Libraries OR
  2. The item is currently on loan and unavailable for you to check out.

Start by searching in FSU OneSearch:

  1. If FSU owns the book but it's unavailable, you'll see a UBorrow+ Request link.
  2. If FSU doesn't own the book, search the Statewide Catalog to see if another library has it, and place your UBorrow+ request there.

While UBorrow+ requests usually arrive faster than physical ILL requests, they still have to be shipped between libraries. To best accomodate for this, place your UBorrow+ request at least one week prior to when you need that item.
