This book is the second in a series of volumes made by the engraver and printer, Theodor de Bry. The larger series documented European travel to the east and west Indies by various explorers and was illustrated by de Bry, who combined documentary images made by artists who accompanied European explorers with his own artistic renditions. This volume focuses on the French voyages to Florida from the account of René Laudonnière and based on watercolors by Jacques Le Moyne de Morgues. FSU currently has several of de Bry's volumes in addition to this one.

The voyage of the HMS Challenger was a scientific expedition from 1872-76 that laid the foundation for the discipline of oceanography. The objectives of this expedition included investigating the conditions of the deep sea, determining the composition and variety of ocean water and organic life at different depths, temperatures, and geographic locations. This series contains the reports and results of the expedition.

This series is a record of the expedition by Humboldt and Bonpland, who traveled through Central and South America between 1799 and 1804. Their voyages produced some of the most detailed maps of the area and documentation about new species of plants and animals.
