Strozier Instruction Room AV Equipment

A guide covering how to use and troubleshoot the AV equipment in both Strozier instruction rooms.

The Polycom equipment is for video teleconferencing: it requires pre-call testing to determine whether the remote party's equipment is compatible. You'll also need to know the party's IP address you are calling, or let the remote party know your IP address. The IP addresses are:

  • Scholars Commons: 128.186.143.240
  • Undergraduate Services: 128.186.143.241

It's also a good idea to test OUR equipment. Use the IP address 111@199.48.152.152 to connect to a remote system that will record and play back the audio it receives.

Please note that entering the '#'-symbol twice in quick secession will create the '@' symbol.

Making a Video Call

Turn on the projector.

Retrieve the Polycom remote from the podium; press the center navigation/camera-control button to wake the unit.

Pull the Polycom icon onto the projector (107A must use "Front Projector" to hear the remote party).

Select "Place a Call" and press the center navigation button on the remote.

Enter the remote party's IP address in the space provided, and then highlight "Place a Call" and press the center navigation button on the remote.

When the remote party answers you will see them at the top of the display. Pressing the center navigation button on the remote indicates whose camera the remote's buttons control.

Pressing the center button twice allows you to switch between controlling the local or the remote camera.

When you've concluded your business, press the red "hang up" button on the remote.
