Mobile Research Help

During the fall and spring semesters, catch up with me on the porch area of the College of Business RBB building.  I'll be there on Monday and Wednesday morning from 9:00-10:00 am to answer questions about library resources and help with research.  I am available to help both students and faculty.

Zoom Meeting

If you are having trouble with your research and need more than an email answer, we can set up a Zoom appointment to meet and talk.  Use the "Schedule an appointment" button on my information link on the left to schedule a time to meet.

For normal support please use my contacts on the left under "Contact Me!"

I prefer email as the mode of contact. I am also happy to meet via Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or in person.

For emergency requests (i.e. after 5pm Eastern Standard Time) please email with subject heading alerting me you need help. You can also text me at 850-284-0620 and I will do my best to answer in a timely manner.

Dissertation & Theses Resources

University Libraries has created Resources for Dissertation Writers to help PhD students as they prepare their dissertation. In addition, there is a link to the Dissertation & Thesis Retreat: Boot Camp and Writing Session every Fall and Spring.

For a complete list of Research Guides for graduate students, see “Graduate Student Resources” in the Research Guides button on the library’s homepage or for more information on dissertations at FLorida State at "Theses and Dissertations at The Florida State University".

Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Service

Can’t find the book or journal you need on campus? The library has several services that can support your research. From UBorrow, a service to find and borrow books from public universities in Florida; to Interlibrary Loan (ILL), which will search the world for books and articles for your research. These services are free and available to all FSU faculty and graduate students.

We will do our best to obtain requested items from other libraries. Our ability to obtain items is dependent upon other libraries’ services and staffing. We may not be able to fill some requests because of this. Due dates for ILL materials are set by the loaning library and may not be eligible for renewal.

eBooks

E-books can exist as either a copy in the catalog or as a part of a database of ebooks in the Databases A-Z link. There are so many ways ebooks are added into the library’s website it is best to use the E-books research guide to start your research.

Additional guides to troubleshooting can be found at the E-books subject homepage here.

Citation Management Software

Software/Apps

The Libraries supports the following Citation Software apps. In particular, we recommend Zotero.

Citation Support

  • Citation Guide supporting writing can be found here. The tab “Citation Styles by Discipline” provides guidance for College of Business students, but be sure to check for what citation style you should be using.
  • Citation Analysis support for finding the best journal to publish in or showing your value as a researcher can be found here.

Course Reserves

We can set aside materials in advance for students enrolling in your courses. When you request in advance with detailed information, we can process your reserve material by the beginning of the semester.

Place items on Course Reserves for use in any FSU courses. Put eBooks on reserve so we can ensure we have enough simultaneous users.

If we don’t have online access to an article or book chapter, submit an InterLibrary Loan request and we will try to get a PDF copy for you.

Fiding Articles

Finding an article can be complicated. We have subscriptions to over 75,000 journals and resources, all of which are changing in real-time. This section will walk you through basic steps to finding an article. If you are still unable to find a specific article, please contact me and I will be happy to research the citation and acquire the article if possible.

Start finding journals using the Journal Search function on the library home page. Check to see if your citation is covered in print or online.

Check the various online providers for the date you are looking for. If available in paper, request a digital copy of the article from LEDS here.
