Leisure Library Cabinet

SGA has purchased 20 hammocks for us to circulate at the library for students to use on Landis Green and around campus. They've also purchased 10 "inflatable" lawn chairs as well.

The Tech Desk will primarily check out these items for 4-Hour loan periods. If there is no one at the Tech Desk, the Scholar Support Desk staff in Strozier will check out the materials. They can be renewed at the staffer's discretion.

The Leisurely Landis Collection will be kept in the brown cabinet by the hold shelf.

To check out a hammock or lawn chair:

  • Ask the scholar to sign the Liability Waiver. This is required to check out the material. Only FSU students, staff, and faculty can check out the hammocks.
    • If they say they've already signed the waiver, you will check their Alma account to see if the note is there.
  • The scholar will scan the QR code to sign the waiver. Once you see the "Thank you for submitting this survey" screen, you can swipe the scholar's ID to pull them up in Alma.
  • In Alma, add a note that says they've signed the waiver (these instructions are below).
  • Grab the key to the cabinet from the printer key drawer. Unlock the cabinet and take the hammock/lawn chair out. Lock the cabinet back before going back to the desk!
    • You must make sure to lock the cabinet back when returning or checking out a hammock. The cabinet must be locked at all times!
  • Check the material out in Alma
    • Hammocks: The barcode is on the inside of the box. Confirm that the hammock and the straps are in there before checking out to the scholar.
    • Lawn Chairs: The barcode is on the luggage tag outside of the bag. Confirm that the chair is inside the Wekapo drawstring bag.
  • Let the scholar know the exact time that the material is due.
  • Return the cabinet key to the drawer with the printer key.

Returns:

  • Hammock: confirm that the hammock and both straps are in the box before returning the item in Alma or letting the scholar leave.
  • Lawn Chairs: confirm that the chair and the Wekapo drawstring bag are in the plastic bag before returning the item in Alma or letting the scholar leave.

Liability Waiver

Students must sign the Liability Waiver before checking out the hammock. This can be done through the QR code which we'll print and have at the desk.

Adding Notes to Alma Account

Adding a User Note for the Liability Waiver

Once the scholar has signed the waiver, you will add a note to their Alma account so they do not have to sign the waiver again.

When the scholar swipes their FSU ID, you will see their account. On the right-hand side you will see the “User Notes” section where you can add Notes.

Choose “Edit Notes”

This will bring you to the scholar’s account.

Choose "Add Note" to bring up this screen:

For the Note, add the following so it looks like this:

“Hammock Liability Waiver Signed [Date] [Your Initials]”

Choose “Add and close” and the Note will be added

Click on the “Save” Button in the top right corner and your screen will return to the check out screen for you to check out the hammock.
